Things I Have Noticed So Far…

The greatest football tournament, sorry the greatest sporting event alongside the Olympic Games, has begun in South Africa over the previous weekend, though you probably knew this and I thought I would share my thoughts on some of my observations.

Don’t worry, this will not contain a ‘easy-to-do’ have a go at Robert Green or an acknowledgement that it has been way too long for the tournament to finally be held in Africa.

Jacques Kallis – A Legend In An Era Of Legends

As cricket fans, we have honestly been spoilt with a plethora of fantastic cricketers to watch in recent times and many of these can easily adopt the dubious title ‘legend’.

The names simply roll off the tongue; Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Shane Warne, Allan Donald, Stephen Fleming, Sourav Ganguly, Michael Vaughan etc…

Yet one man’s name seems constantly missed off this list and he is arguably the greatest all-rounder of his generation.

Dawn Of A New Era

When the England squads for the forth-coming cricket tour of South Africa were announced yesterday I for one breathed a sigh of relief followed by a renewed optimism ahead of the tour.

Although the tour does not commence for another month or so and the all important test series not beginning until mid-December as a cricket fan I have more optimism than usual.
