Sir Roy Of Hodgson

As another Premier League seasons draws to a close this coming sunday, one man stands out from the masses who ply their trade in the professional game of football.

That one man is Roy Hodgson, yet next Sunday will not be the final game of his season, as due to his excellent management ability, he has bagged another game the following Wednesday

As many of you will be aware this fixture is the first ever Europa League Final to be held in Hamburg as Hodgson’s unfancied Fulham take on the Spanish side Athletico Madrid, conquerors of Liverpool.

The juggernaut that is Chelsea rolls on to a mouth-watering tie with top four pretenders Aston Villa this weekend. Yet Roman Abramovich‘s club could be approaching a watershed moment if the current state of the club continues.

Chelsea has all the attributes of a trophy machine, it’s what Abramovich and now departed Jose Mourinho built together. They are big, strong, athletic and have a winning mentality imbedded in their psyche. All fantastic traits you would want in any team. But under the surface and in the long-term Chelsea look on unsteady ground.

Where Have All The Good Defenders Gone?

When Nadir Belhadj sweetly struck a thunderous volley to open the scoring for Portsmouth against Liverpool at the start of the Christmas football programme it was the 500th in the Premier League this season.

This resulted in the 2009/10 season, beating the 1994/95 season for the record of the fewest games in the Premier League to achieve the feat of hitting this target in the fewest games.
