Andres Iniesta – The Missing Link

I have to admit that Andres Iniesta (pictured above with Lassana Diarra) has been a personal favourite of mine for a few years now and it appears it’s now almost a trendy aspect of modern football to like him.

I don’t mind, well I do, but it’s a sign of his importance in the game and more so, his importance to F.C. Barcelona.

2009 proved to be a fantastic year for the Catalonians and with the teams heartbeat consisting of home-grown Spanish talents with a predominant local feel to several of the players, it added an extra special touch.

Leo Messi – The Greatest Ever?

It is a debate that will rage on and on for many a month to come and has arguably raged on since the dawn of football, Pele or Maradona? Gazza or Best? Banks or Zoff?

How many of you actually chose on the above as you were reading? I did.

The Forgotten Man

After the winter break and with the first set of fixtures in the Dutch top division (Eredivisie) completed, Twente Enschede (known in many countries as FC Twente), sit joint-top of the league along side the mighty PSV Eindhoven.

This is some feat for a team that has only won the Dutch league championship once in its history and that, in 1926 was technically before the club formed (Sportclub Enschede and the Enschedese Boys joined forces in 1965).

Is It Only Sport?

In an ever changing world when we listen to any news bulletin and are bombarded with nuclear war threats, MPs and there latest expense shenanigans, swine flu, Mike Tyson’s daughter tragically dying and the continuation of the credit crunch.

It has to be remembered that it is only a sport, a hobby that we choose to follow it isn’t or shouldn’t be a matter of life or death. But it isn’t, is it? It is more than just a sport, a game, and occasionally it may feel like the end of our world.
