Great blog, a tournament continually under-rated in my opinion. Possibly due to its scheduling (right in the middle of our domestic season) but in terms of quality it can rival a European Championship. Gone are the days of terrible pitches and teams of amateurs, this is now a proper football tournament, highlighted by the number of African players plying their trade at top European clubs.

      Thanks for the comment Gavin,

Completely agree and it is a shame that the tournament is getting the coverage of the recent Togo tradegy but hopefully it can be remembered for the football. Some fantastic teams, great atmospheres and brilliant moments of individual quality.

      Enjoy the tournament, Cheers Gaffers

The tournament started on very high, with explosive 4-4. But Ivory Coast somewhat did not rise up to pression and challenge of being the undisputed favorite

    Thanks Mo,

Again my thanks for contributing this piece. The tournament has begun with shocks galore and I hope the african teams can continue this through to the World Cup.

    Cheers, Gaffers
